Trees & Decorations Wander through a magical forest of more than 350 designer items, including beautifully decorated trees, holiday accessories, fireplace mantels, door designs, table centerpieces and “Adopt-a-trees”decorated by local school children.

 

Gingerbread VillageThis unique area features gingerbread houses deliciously constructed and decorated by area bakers, chefs and school children.

 

Walmart Raffle TreeThroughout the five-day show, Fantasy visitors can purchase a ticket for $5 for a chance to win a beautiful seven-foot tree surrounded by electronics, toys, games, holiday goodies, and more, all donated by local Walmart stores. Four second-place prizes (each is a $250 Walmart gift card) will also be awarded. Winners will be chosen by random drawing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, at the Fantasy of Trees..

 

75th anniversary celebrationThe 2012 Fantasy of Trees will have some special features to help celebrate Children’s Hospital’s 75th anniversary:

  • A book of children’s art, “East Tennessee from A to Z” ($20 per copy) will be introduced; it will feature a story by a local middle school student and art by Children’s Hospital patients
  • The new Children’s Hospital license plate will be promoted, including a new design to replace the plate that was eliminated in the state of Tennessee in 2011
  • The return of a Children’s Hospital model that children will be able to “brick” with candy
  • A NICU isolette (intensive care bed for infants) to accept cash donations

 

Special Events

Preview Party Tuesday, November 20, 7-10 p.m.The season’s most festive party with a private preview and sale of designer trees and accessories. Extra ticket required.

 

Tinsel Time for Moms & Tots Wednesday, November 21, 9 a.m.-noon On Wednesday (the Fantasy’s opening morning), special activities are planned for moms and their toddlers, sponsored by Shoney’sand Safe Kids of the Greater Knox Area. There will be important safety information for moms and fun and easy crafts for the tots. Adults with a child under age 4 get a half price admission to enjoy all of Fantasy of Trees when they arrive during this event from 9 a.m. to noon. (Not valid with any other discount coupons on Wednesday).

 

Holiday edition of “Live at Five at Four” Wednesday, November 21, 4-5 p.m. Watch WBIR-TV Channel 10’s “Live at Five at Four” broadcast live from the 28th annual Fantasy of Trees at the Knoxville Convention Center! Join show hosts Beth Haynes and Russell Biven as they showcase designer trees in styles ranging from unique to traditional, take viewers on a tour of this year’s show, highlight what’s new and share the spirit of the season from East Tennessee’s premiere holiday event.

 

Babes in Toyland Parade Wednesday, November 21, 7 p.m. The first and only indoor Christmas parade of the season with children from area child care centers, a marching band, Santa, costumed characters and holiday fun. Broadcast on WVLT-TV Volunteer News and sponsored by Dollywood.

 

Santa’s Senior Stroll Friday, November 23, 9 a.m. to noon.Seniors and walkers of all ages can enjoy a one-mile walk through the Fantasy of Trees. Seniors 55+ receive a half-price admission ticket ($5) during the three hour-long event (not good with any other discount).

 

Kris Kringle’s Kiddie Party Friday, November 23, 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Little ones will enjoy children’s activities and interactive musical entertainment, have photos made with Shoney Bear and receive a goody bag at this event just for preschoolers. Attendance is limited for each party; tickets are $1 each and are offered first-come, first served the morning of the party at the Fantasy Theater stage.

 

 

Entertainment

 

Entertainers from throughout the region perform daily at the Fantasy Theater. Enjoy the talents of dancers, singers and other entertainers of all ages as they take the stage to share their talents and ring in the holiday season.

 

It’s a Snap Photo Spot Create a special seasonal photo with family and friends when you take your own pictures in the beautiful photo spot. Disposable cameras will be on sale here, too.

 

Commemorative PhotosHave a holiday photograph of your family or friends taken by a photographer ($14 for a 5 X 7 print or $22 for a photo CD).

WIVK / Fowlers Christmas Parade

Annual Holiday event – FREE Family Friendly Fun WIVK / Fowlers Christmas Parade includes a selection of high school bands, dancers, colorful floats, animals, local celebrities and national entertainers marching down historic Gay Street which ends with a much anticipated appearance from Santa Claus.

The parade begins on Friday, December 2nd at 7 p.m. on Gay Street and ends with a much anticipated appearance from Santa Claus. This festive event is one that your family won’t want to miss. If you’re unable to attend, catch the parade live on Volunteer TV, WVLT 8 Knoxville.

Have you been to the Holiday Express at the UT Gardens? It is a must-do if you have boys, and the girls also love it. My biggest suggestion is to go near dusk, so you can see it at night. This picture is from our trip.


Holiday ExHoliday Express Logopress, presented by UT Gardens and Mark Fuhrman Complete Landscape Services drew more than 8,500 visitors this year, raising public awareness and support for the UT Gardens. Because of the success, creator Mark Fuhrman has agreed to partner with the Gardens again next holiday season to bring back the event.
