I have to confess, I have never taken my daughter to Ijams. I really regret that. I’ve been, and I’ve really enjoyed it. We wanted to go to a special on bats last fall, but something else came up and we didn’t go. With all these beautiful days, check out Ijams Nature Center. It is easy to find, and right in the middle of town. They have special programs for Wee Ones, ages 2-3, and Jr. Naturalists, ages 9-14. Check out their site for more information at www.ijams.org. Family membership is $50/year, or you can pay per event. While your are there, check out the beautiful homes in the Island Homes neighborhood.

I have not checked to see if there are still openings, but next week they are having  Spring Break Camp: Going Green for Spring: Mon., March 29 – Thurs., April 1 (Kindergarten through fifth grade.) Monday and Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Extended hours available for a fee.) Learn about everything green from flowers to frogs to making your world a little “greener.” Price is $30 a day for members, $35 for non-members. Wednesday will be an overnight stay at Ijams including a midnight hike and owl prowl. Dinner and breakfast provided. Campers will be picked up Thursday at lunchtime. Overnight: $40 for members, $50 for non-members. Pre-registration is required! Contact Sarah for more information or to register: e-mail: sbrobst@ijams.org or call 577-4717 ex 24.
